This unofficial district, tucked between Recoleta and Palermo in the center of BA, is a thriving hub of shops, restaurants, bars and nightclubs. Though it sees plenty of action both by day and by night, literature and reviews on specific establishments are (oddly) a bit scattered. Don't be deterred, though. Your best bet will be to start on Santa Fe, a quaint, tree-lined, centrally located artery that's equal parts run-of-the-mill chain establishments (McD's and BK included) and cool, distinct venues. Hop over to Arenales, which runs parallel to Santa Fe, and trendy places like Jobs and Casa Bar help to keep the atmosphere lively and entertaining. Whatever you're into (literally, as this is one of BA's hippest gay-friendly districts), Barrio Norte likely has something you're in the market for. Check it out.
