With 25 beautiful runs framed by the summit of the western hemisphere's tallest mountain, Mt Aconcagua, Penitentes has earned a spot among the top ski resorts in Argentina. Trails run the gamut from beginner to competition level, with a climate that boasts sunshine and compact, powdery snow for most of the ski season (June-August). There are a total of 10 lifts, along with the added availability of heli-skiing, and the resort even contains a disco that keeps its patrons thoroughly entertained well into the early morning hours.
During the off-season, things at Los Penitentes quiet down pretty dramatically, although it does provide access to both the Puente del Inca bridge and serene hikes at the base of nearby Aconcagua Provincial Park.
