Though the top of Cerro San Bernardo can be reached by cable car via Parque San Martin, you can experience a more rewarding view over the city and its surrounding countryside by tackling the 1,000+ steps that lead to its summit. True, this is hardly an adrenaline-junkie's dream adventure, but the excursion up the 1,458 m (4,783 ft) massif allows for a more personal experience of the ascent and all it has to offer.
Don't worry, the climb itself is only around 800 ft, and you can reward yourself with a refreshing (alcoholic) beverage once you've reached the top. Just look for the start of the trail at the Statue de Guemes. Your quads will thank you later.
