Touted as the first and the best, The Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is the premiere nature facility in Queensland and possibly all of Australia. With over 130 koalas, as well as a host of kangaroos, platypuses, and more, this sanctuary's greatest intrigue is their allowance of interactions with visitors. You can hold snakes, feed the kangaroos, and even get your picture taken with a koala in your arms. As you can imagine, this is the sort of attraction marketed toward families, so you'll find quite a number of critters of the human variety scurrying about. Still, this may be your best opportunity to interact with a creature symbolic of Australian wildlife without having to set off into the wilderness yourself.
Adult entrance to the park, which is open all week, is about $35 USD. Easily reached within the Brisbane city limits at 708 Jesmond Street, be sure to check the official website for more information.
