Mount Buller (1804 meters/5,919 feet) is an adventure destination primarily visited by avid skiers and snowboarders for dozens of well-maintained trails. Because of its proximity to Melbourne, this is a popular area even in the off-season, when the main activities on the mountain are mountain biking and climbing.
This is actually one of the biggest mountain biking areas in all of Australia, with over twenty tracks that range from tourist-friendly to hugely technical, so don't fret if you're here during warmer months. Indoor rock climbing is available at the Alpine Central Sports Hall, while there are other unique attractions like an on-site movie theater and helicopter rides that circle the peak. As for costs, a day pass for skiing will set you back about A$110 per person, while off-season activities will be a bit cheaper.
