We know it to be in our best interest to include all of Darling Harbour as an attraction in itself, being that it is the epicenter of so many Sydney cultural shockwaves. The harbour itself is a gorgeous display, particularly at night, but we're especially big fans of all the things to see and do in the area. You've got casinos, museums (the Maritime, which is free), shopping and entertainment complexes (including the biggest IMAX screen in the world), and even bursts of natural wonder like the Sydney Aquarium and Wild Life Sydney. On most weekends you'll also be able to see an incredible fireworks display over the harbor, while the interactive lighting display in Darling Quarter is a really cool experience (think Pong on the side of a building). Check out the official site for many more details, especially on events that will be happening when you visit, and make sure to put at least a day aside to stroll around this bustling area of the city.
Note:Want all of your nightlife opportunities in Darling Harbour under one roof? Try the Star Hotel and Casino, home to the gamut of gambling, live bands, lounge environments, and much more. Then again, you'll find a number of excellent establishments along the water, with institutions like Home, The Watershed Hotel, and Cargo Bar.
