Not just the center of commerce and industry in Rio de Janeiro, Centro provides pretty obvious access to a sampling of both cuisine and nightlife in close proximity to the airport. The wildest time can be had for you nightlife heathens at Rua da Carioca, located very close to the Lapa neighborhood, which has developed quite a reputation in itself. Some of the biggest clubs in Rio call Rua da Carioca home, including the incredible all-around venu Espaço Acústica and house music-central, Cine Ideal. Back toward the marina, a range of eateries line Rua do Rosário, from healthy options (Filet & Folhas) to churrascarias and Brazilian-based cuisines. Although there are fewer nightlife and cuisine options and less of a sense of adventure than what's available in a district like Zona Sul, Centro has all you need if you need a bite on the way to or from the airport or if you're checking out some of the older churches crammed between the steel, phallic archetypes of multinational corporations.
Location:Rio de Janeiro
Note:Don't expect Centro to be very busy come the weekend; most of the people who flood the area during the work week desert the area on Saturdays and Sundays.
