Although technically only a large hill (233 meters/764 feet), the urban park that encompasses Mount Royal provides some of the best views of the city and is a convenient location for the more adventurous among us. This is a popular weekend meeting place for many Montrealers (or Montrealaise in French), whether to enjoy Sunday drum jams when the weather permits, the gorgeous views of downtown from Kondiaronk Belvedere, or the toboggan runs during winter. Mount Royal is also our recommended way to find your bearings while exploring the city!
Note:Also on Mount Royal, but outside of the park, is the largest church in Canada, the St. Joseph's Oratory, a spectacular building on the mountain slope surrounded by meticulously cultivated gardens. At least make a photo stop while you're in the area!
