Considered by a select few to be "the place where it all began," the B'ville Diner holds an iconic place in the hearts of those who realize that big ideas can often arise in everyday places. In May of 2011, the percussive clatter of silverware and the unruly harmony of conversation provide a fitting soundtrack to the first threads of an idea. In a back corner booth, eight twenty-something's nod, smile, and chatter, tones bristling with possibility, eyes glistening with starry-eyed excitement. Every adventure begins somewhere and ours begins here, punctuated by the comforts of better-than-average diner food, the easy camaraderie of friends, and the bottled lightning of an idea. An idea that became Embark.
If you visit the B'ville Diner today, it all may seem very ordinary indeed, although the buttermilk pancakes are an absolute revelation and the coffee is a well-calibrated morning jolt. Still, it couldn't hurt to request that corner booth with its dated chrome jukebox and red vinyl seats. Open a menu. Fill your head with dependable small town aromas and conversation. Order a double stack, perhaps. Who knows, you may fall in love with a big idea of your own. Maybe even enough to see it through.
