Spanish for hill house, Casa Loma can be considered a bit more than just a house. At one time set for demolition due to its ramshackle appearance, this 98 room mansion has undergone extensive renovation and today exists as one of the most attractive (and most touristed) buildings in Toronto. Located at 1 Austin Terrace in midtown, the Gothic architecture is mirrored by successful efforts at period furnishings on the inside. Admission to the grounds, which includes a summer garden, gift shop, etc., is about $20.55. If you're on the lookout for a medieval castle in the middle of the city (come on, who isn't?), then this is your best bet.
Note:Casa Loma is a frequent location for movie shoots. It has been featured in popular films like Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, X-Men, and many more.
