Once Vancouver's classic and trendy nightlife street, Granville is still a good time for anyone who appreciates a decent pub, a few high-end dance clubs or a spectacular assortment of live music venues. Partially pedestrianized, most establishments exist between Robson and the Granville Street Bridge. Catch the best in live music at the Roxy, Commodore Ballroom, and Vogue Theatre, while Caprice is your club fix and Irish pubs like Ceilis and Dooli's are typical for good beer and sports-watching. Despite (or maybe even because of) these popular establishments, Granville also has a seedy element that is hard to avoid. Quite often you'll leave a club late at night only to have to step over a homeless person sleeping in a doorway or dodge a drug addict begging you for money. Our suggestion is to come out for the great live acts and spend your time in Yaletown or Gastown if you'd like to limit your interactions with Vancouver's disheartening transient population.
