Known merely as "The Peak" to locals, Victoria Peak is a 552 meter (1,811 foot) high mountain billed as the region's top attraction. The outstanding views of Victoria Harbour and the outlying islands of Hong Kong from a number of different viewpoints are popular, although you'll encouter a thrumming bee hive of tourism at the pass between the two peaks that consists of a number of shopping centers, high-end restaurants, and novelty businesses like Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum at the Victoria Gap.
Despite this, the fit and active traveler can follow a few different trails up, including one that mirrors Old Peak Road all the way up to Peak Tower. At the very least, we suggest you take the tram or bus up and get a view from the recently renovated Lion's Pavilion or explore the Peak Gardens.
Note:This is also a great point of view for the Symphony of Lights put on every night at 8pm from Victoria Harbour. It's the world's biggest sound and light show, according to our friends at the Guinness Book.
