Taganga is a little fishing village located about a 10 minute drive from Santa Marta on Colombia's Caribbean coast. It is also known as one of the cheapest places in the world to complete the PADI open water dive course. This is something I've wanted to do for a long time, so what better place to do it than Taganga.
The dives took place in Parque Nacional Natural Tayrona, which has sites to suit all experience levels. We dived mostly around coral reefs and saw a beautiful hawksbill turtle, a moray eel, sting ray, lots of angelfish and tons of other varieties of fish. On our way back into Taganga one afernoon we passed by a small pod of dolphins which are usually only seen in the area every couple of months.
I dived here with Poseidon Dive Centre which many of the locals told me was the best centre in town.
