- Summary
Anyone who's lived in Havana for a few years or more can tell you that the easing of creative restrictions so long held in place by the government is perhaps nowhere more tangibly felt than in the culinary arts. From trendy bar/grills like the rooftop El Cocinero in Vedado to the eclectic bric-a-brac cluttering Centro Habana's celebrated San Cristóbal, both foodies and non-foodies will likely be pleasantly surprised by the available selection in a city not traditionally known for its gastronomic prowess. Cuban/Caribbean fare is still the dominant theme, but you won't have to look far these days to find French, Italian, vegetarian, and even late-night sushi joints. Welcome to 21st century Havana.
