If you're a mountain climbing enthusiast in England, you're usually going to have to settle for less. That being said, the Lakeland Fells are going to be the one place where you'll feel at home. Located in Cumbria's Lake District in northwestern England, the fells are the region's mountainous terrain.
Helvellyn, Great Gable, and Scafel Pike are three of the most popular fells to hike and all have peaks of around 900 meters (about 3,000 feet). Despite heights that pale in comparison to the great peaks of the world, there are some amazing hikes to be had here. There are also myriad lakes for boating and swimming, as well as a stretch of coastline where you'll find sand dunes, windsurfing, and majestic views of both the ocean on one side and the mountains on the inland.
