While we're not particularly big on promoting fashion destinations as cultural attractions, the history behind Lyon's Village des Créateurs makes it a pretty fascinating place to check out. Built into one of the city's antiquated Traboules (covered passageways) after its 2001 renovation, this former 18th century silk tunnel dubbed the "Passage Thiaffait" has become a modern day Mecca for young and innovative designers nation wide. Stop by the Fashion University student-run Le Tube à essai and check out wares from some of the most creative up-and-coming designers in France, or just take in the eclectic vibe while you sip a beer at the trendy Cafe Cousu. Even if you're not planning on buying anything (like most of us), it makes for a cool stop while wandering around the bohemian Croix-Rousse neighborhood.
