The pedestrian rue Merciere, located in the north end of Lyon's 2nd arrondissement, is one of the most popular spots for bouchon dining and bar drinking in the city. You'll usually find this narrow, 250m stretch of road bustling with hungry patrons relaxing at outdoor cafes and bistros, especially in the afternoon and evening hours. Late night crowds tend to venture elsewhere, but the bars are certainly worth checking out for the night's first couple rounds. Just be aware that it's particularly touristy so, if you're looking for an off the beaten path experience, you may have to adjust your expectations.
