While the wow factor is certainly in full effect upon first viewing, Paris' much loved "inside-out building" is so much more than just an architectural stunner. This complex, with its exposed piping and escalators famously designed by powerhouse duo Renzo Piano and Richard Rogers, houses a public library, the French institute for acoustic research (IRCAM), several exhibition spaces... oh yeah, as well as the largest and most important modern art museum in the entirety of Europe. Not a bad stop on your cultural list, hmm? And for all those not interested in what's on the inside, a small fee will get you to the top of the building for an excellent view of the surrounding cityscape.
