Forming a "U" 8 km (5 miles) long in the center of Stuttgart is a beautiful stretch of parks, gardens, and fountains that are a true natural spectacle, especially in spring, when the world is in radiant bloom. "The Green U" begins at the Schlossgarten (the gardens of the new palace) and ends in Killesberg Park, a gorgeous area known for its observation tower and a steam train that travels the park grounds.
On the way, there are numerous beer gardens and cafes, as well as swimming areas, to quell any adventurer's thirst or fatigue. Also of note along the "U" is Rosenstein Park, where the prime attraction is Wilhelma, an extravagant botanical garden and zoo in an architecturally Moorish landscape.
Because it is located centrally in Stuttgart, these parks are best enjoyed as part of your cultural touring, whether you're enjoying the museums of Rosenstein Park or Neues Schloss and the other landmarks on Schlossplatz.
Note:Killesberg Park has been noted on the map.
