What can I say about Sligo? Well. It's one of my favourite Irish destinations for weekend activities. The place quite literally has it all: great surf, hiking, walking, sights and scenery, and eating of course.
Sligo town itself boasts so many amazing spots to eat along the river, and it's the perfect town to just stroll about, soaking up the atmosphere.
For those looking for a little more adventure, head to Strand Hill or Streadagh Beach for amazing surf spots. There are surf schools working out of Strandhill too, so you can grab a board or a lesson.
Then there are hikes and walks in and around and up Benbulben, the mountain who's shape defines the Sligo landscape.
For nature enthusiasts, Glencar glacial lake and waterfall are a must- they are actually stunning! The road twists and turns en route and you'll literally be gawking at the window!
There is also the option for exploring the River Bonet by canoe or kayak, or head to Mullaghmore to see some of the best big-wave surfing spots on the planet. It's a haven for adventure enthusiasts.
And wrap up the perfect holiday there with some chill out time in Shell's Cafe in Strandhill! Bliss.
