My first introduction into climbing was in the picturesque Dalkey Quarry overlooking Dublin bay. The views are unbelievable, shame my climbing skills are not, but it doesn't deter me. The quarry boasts a huge range and variety of climbs or options for bouldering. In fact, this disused granite quarry has over 300 routes spread across three sections, so whatever your level, you're catered for.
I went with a group of climbers who had all the equipment, but local climbing groups meet there weekly if you're looking to try it out for the first time. Even if climbing ain't your thing, the walk from the quarry up through Kiliney Hill Forest is a great option, and again has amazing views, as you can see all the way to Howth and you can really appreciate the splendor of Dublin!
