1 hour from Milan, high in the pre-Alps of Lombardy rises this amazing work of art by artist Giulano Mauri. Modeled after a cathedral (but this one dedicated to Nature), the structure is composed of wood "spires" that are hollow in the middle. Growing up through the spires are beech trees that will assume the form of the cathedral as they get larger. The spires were meant to decay and break apart as the trees grow up through them creating a stunning meditation on the sacredness of nature. The gorgeous green hills and stone mountains surrounding this work of art make this day trip an unforgettable experience.
