If ambling through a museum or art gallery is your preferred method of cultural immersion, then there are few better choices on Earth than the Uffizi Gallery. Located in an epic 16th century palace between the Arno River and the Piazza della Signoria, the collection of art and artistry, largely from the 12th century on, is staggering, while all of the Italian masters are in frequent rotation (do Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Caravaggio or Botticelli ring a bell?). There are more than 45 halls displaying various works, making it near impossible to appreciate the full range pieces on display, but there are suggested itineraries on the official site (included, of course). We also suggest booking online in advance (despite the added fees), since there have been wait times noted over a few hours for walk-in's during the summer.
Note:Tickets reserved online are a minimum of 20.50 euros as of 2013.
