The hippest concentration of nightlife in Milan, the Navigli district is an area bordered by two canals, the Naviglio Grande and the Naviglio Parese. There is plenty to do here once the sun goes down, whether you'd like to stroll along the canals and stop where the music is good or are willing to try one of our nightlife suggestions.
Navigli is the type of alternative a city like Milan needs when the exclusivity and price tag of more upscale districts like Corso Como are too much to handle. There are pubs with European and American vibes (Antik Cafe and Spazio Movida), while La Scimme is going to have excellent live jazz on most nights, and Roxanne Cafe's appeal comes from its enviable position overlooking the canal. There are also a few discotheques in the area (Planet 50 comes to mind) for those who'd like to do some dancing. Craft beer lovers: don't miss Birra Artigianale di Qualità on Alzaia Naviglio.
Don't stop yourself short if you want to just grab some local dishes and enjoy the atmosphere as you chat with friends about your night in that mountain refuge. Ascanio Sforza and Alzaia Naviglio will be your main drags on each river and both will have an immense selection of Italian eateries. Grab your aperitivo and some classic northern Italian dishes (think polenta and the like) at places like El Brellin or Al Pont de Ferr. Stay for the nightlife. Go back to the hotel. Come back and start again tomorrow.
