One of the greatest hikes on the planet and the perfect way to leave tourists behind and experience the jaw dropping beauty of Southern Italy. Take the bus from Naples to Minori (on the Amalfi coast) a one-hour, million curve journey to the turquoise blue splendor of these cliffside towns. Grab an espresso and a bottle of water in quaint beachside, Minori and then head out walking on the main road toward Amalfi. Two minutes outside town (ask locals if you can't find it) there is a staircase clearly marked "Ravello." Here your epic hike begins. Well marked concrete stairs weave past houses, lemon groves, and medieval churches. The higher you get the more you'll see the sparkling blue ocean and the green cliffs every which way. Keep going. The signs will guide you to Ravello, the white stucco town perched high over the coast. But while other tourists will take the nauseating small bus there that weaves through a million hairpin switchbacks up from Minori, you will have the unbelievably gorgeous hike to yourself. Bring plenty of water and a camera. After touring Ravello, there are plenty of paths that go back down to Minori or continue on to Amalfi and all offer equally breathtaking panoramas.
