Just across from Haller Park, right about where Nyali Road transitions into Malindi Road on the way north towards Mtwapa, you'll come across a humble smattering of restaurants and bars conveniently located close to Kenyatta Beach's most accessible hotels. Old timers will tell you that this area used to be home to the massive Tembo Disco, one of East Africa's biggest and most impressive nightlife haunts. Unfortunately for you, however, Tembo's days are long gone. Instead, those looking to grab some food and carry on into the late night hours have options like the lively indoor/outdoor Bob's Bar (actually a bar and an Irish pub in one) and Club Cuba Libre to satisfy their urges for entertainment. There are also a couple decent drinking/dining options, including a rooftop sheesha bar, located inside the nearby City Mall (directly off Malindi Road between Bob's and Cuba Libre).
Weekdays are admittedly somewhat tame, but come the weekend this place transitions into a bustling hub of easy food, cheap drinks, live music and the opportunity to meet a few new friends. Just know that, like most of Mombasa, once you're here, you'll have to rely on a cab to get anywhere else.
