Near Gopeng, a town 25 kilometers (15.5 miles) south of Ipoh, you'll encounter one of the longest limestone caves in Malaysia: Gua Tempurung. This incredible cavern comes replete with all the pillars, crystals, stalactities and stalagmites you could ask for, carved into Malaysian bed rock that's hundreds of millions of years old. In other words, it's not a bad place to do some exploring.
Though the cave's narrow crawl spaces, underground river and rock pools make it a favorite for spelunkers, there are plenty of illuminated walkways for those interested in experiencing the interior without getting wet or on all fours. Whatever your preference, tours and rentals are easy to set up and will usually only run you around 25 RM ($8). Check out the link below for more details, and enjoy one of the country's coolest subterranean adventures.
Note:There are no tours on Fridays.
