One of the best and most famous hikes in Myanmar is the trek from Kalaw to Inle Lake. The trek starts in the morning in Kalaw and it takes 3 days until you arrive at the lake. It's one of the most inexpensive treks you can do in the world and the service and food are excellent. The nights are spent in local villages where people are still using carts driven by oxen and grinding grains in a pestle. During the day you will stop for lunch in monasteries and local markets. The sights of the locals living off the land is unforgettable and the scenery is fantastic. Inle Lake is the perfect place to end a 3 day hike, and when you arrive there will be an hour-long boat ride to the closest city to enjoy the beautiful water world.
The trek is not easy during or right after rainy season when it will be extremely muddy, although the scenery will be greener. Do not expect to bathe but swimming is an option so pack a swimming suit.
