Norway is the country of forest and cabins. They are everywhere, although most of them are privately owned and more like luxury villas than cabins. However, in recent years, many older cabins have been abandoned and as free camping is permitted across Norway, it is permissible to make use of these cabins.
From Eina, head south down the 4, then east along the 244 until you reach the street Møllerhagenvegen (part of Ostre Toten). At the end of the street ( which becomes a dirt track), you will find a gate and a path into the forest. If you follow this path, you will find 5 abandoned cabins within 5 kilometres, the one pictured being the first of them. If you decide to go further, there are even more to find. Take your pick!
