A stretch of Victorian buildings that have been refurbished into bustling, sophisticated businesses, Florida Road is the Durban answer to Cape Town's famous Long Street. On the south border of the Morningside neighborhood, the street stretches from Innis Road to Springfield Road, providing the most consistent sampling of both cuisine and nightlife in the city, especially if you want to be where the fun is.
The centerpiece of the boulevard is Spiga d'Oro, more than popular (deified, more like) for excellent pasta and a great atmosphere that includes, like many establishments on Florida Road, a street facing balcony. Carnivores should try out Butcher Boys, while Kauai serves up tasty dishes for the herbivores. There is plenty of variety to be had otherwise (like Durban's famous bunny chow at House of Curries), so take a stroll if the previous establishments aren't doing it for you.
Most restaurants are open late, so it may suit you to somehow grab a balcony seat and drink the evening away; then again, dancing is a viable option at clubs like Boulevard and Cubana. No matter what your preference, you're best bet to find it will be on Florida Road.
