About nine miles up the coast from Ibiza Town is the town of Santa Eularia des Riu, an idyllic escape from the party madness that inhabits much of Ibiza. A small port on the ocean, it is a convenient choice to escape for a day and enjoy sunny beaches, a bit of culture (the hilltop Església de Puig de Missa just west of town is quite picturesque), and a number of places to grab a drink or a bite to eat down near the harbor.
The most central and most popular avenue is Carrer San Jaime, lined with Spanish-style buildings, Mediterranean restaurants, and handful of places where burgers, beer, and the football game are the only priorities. You'll see some development here, especially a few blocks down where there are a few resorts on the beach-side promenade, but it's not something that will detract from Santa Eularia des Riu's off-the-beaten-path appeal. Plus, it's close enough where you can take the bus or a taxi from another part of the island and be back to Ibiza Town in time for the nightlife.
