Yeah yeah yeah, we know it's overrun with tourists much of the time, but for those who don't mind sharing some beautiful island scenery with a host of other beach-hungry travelers the Ko Phi Phi archipelago is still a sight to behold. The draw for most visitors is Ko Phi Phi Leh's Maya Bay, made legendary by Danny Boyle and Leonardo Dicaprio in 2000's The Beach. Beautiful as it is, however, there's plenty more to do here than just lounging on the sand.
Since the whole 6-island area is a part of a marine National Park, aquatic life is everywhere. Snorkeling and scuba diving options abound, giving divers a world class tropical experience with little coral but an abundance of turquoise water and beautiful sea life. There are also some fantastic rock climbing trails and ledges ideal for cliff jumping. Feel like ditching the hotel? You can find campgrounds on Ko Phi Phi Don, or book your reservations for a small group sleep-away on Maya Bay. And between swimming, boat trips, kayak rentals and mixing it up with other easy-going travelers, you'll find there are plenty of opportunities to soak up every minute of this beautiful island paradise. As long as you're not looking for isolation, you should leave duly satisfied.
