The islands in the South East Gulf of Thailand are famous for their beautiful coasts and beach front bungalows. However, the interior areas of these islands are also home to a countless number of day hikes and waterfalls. One such hike is to the Phaeng Noi Waterfall. While the name itself emphasizes the "waterfall", the beauty of this day hike is the foliage and serenity. You can rent a scooter and ride to the park, which is probably the best way to get there (as well as the best way to travel around the island in general).
Once you reach the waterfall, you can climb up the dry(ish) areas until you have a view beyond the canopy of surrounding trees. At this height, you will be in the perfect position to watch the sunset to the west from the top of the waterfall. If you do decide to go later in the day, Just be sure to have a headlamp or flashlight with you for the walk back.
