After nearly a decade of stalled and restarted construction, the ultra-modern Bangkok Art and Culture Center (BACC) opened its doors to visitors in 2008. With a constant rotation of high quality exhibits including paintings, sculpture, photography and film, it's a great cultural alternative for those who are prone to experiencing "temple fatigue" after a day or two romping around the Thai capital. Not too into art? No worries. The Guggenheim-esque architecture of the building itself is well worth checking out, providing a great setting in which to explore the center's selection of bookshops, cafes and eateries. There are also a host of nearby shopping outlets available to satiate your commercial needs (since the museum itself is free).
