What do you get when you combine Irish pubs with Rastafarian vibes and set it all in a Bourbon Street atmosphere in northern Thailand? Ratvithi Road, of course. This small, eclectic strip of backpacker-friendly bars, clubs, pubs and restaurants runs east-west in the northeastern quarter of Chiang Mai's Old City, providing plenty of hunger-satisfying meals during the day and tourist-priced drinks at night. Zoe in Yellow and the U.N. Irish Pub are two good names to remember, although there's plenty of selection and it's easy to simply follow your eyes and ears to a place that looks appealing. Weekends and pretty much any time during high season you can expect the area to be jam packed, and for late night owls who don't mind a seedier atmosphere just head down the road eastward towards the infamous Spicy Club once 2 am hits.
