The little niche of bars, clubs and restaurants located near Kata Beach offers an atmosphere that fits somewhere between the debauchery of Patong and the reserve of Phuket Town. It's a condensed string of entertainment venues running predominantly down the eponymous Kata Road, with Soi Taina extending the good times several blocks to the east. Catered to tourists? Absolutely. Family friendly? You betcha, though there's still a small but active girly-bar scene and more than a few places to get rowdy once the sun goes down. Overall, it's safe to say Kata probably won't provide any highlight culinary or late night experiences during your stay on Phuket. Still, for a 10-20 minute cab ride, it's a pretty solid middle ground that rarely disappoints.
