Only two hours from New York City, the Catskill mountains are the first major mountain range in the area replete with hundreds of wild adventure spots and activities. On this particular tour, you will get to see the beautiful scenery of the Catskills, and the majestic plateau on which these mountains rest. You will camp under the stars with a fantastic view of North-South Lake and the greater hudson valley, and will dine on on some delicious campfire dishes from steak and potatoes to baked beans and quinoa. The hike to the ridge upon which our group will camp is relatively easy at only 3 miles, and from NYC to this view it's possible to arrive at this spot within 3-4 hours total. If you feel like you'd like to keep hiking further, you can also continue along the ridge towards several other views and areas of interest such as plane crash site from the early 1980's.
Weather permitting, we should wake up to a gorgeous sunrise to the east, and will have a quick breakfast on the ridge before we hike back to the parking lot. On our way back, we can stop in the famous town of Woodstock where we can eat brunch and and then head back to the city. Overall, this adventure is great because although it's a true backpacking camping trips, it's a quick and easy hike to the gorgeous ridge, and the entire experience can be had in 36 hours or so!
