The 2 day Doi Inthanon tour is a nice trek if you are feeling energetic, but it is not too strenuous as it takes in numerous stops along the way- rice paddies, the King’s agricultural project, waterfalls, lush farmland and ethnic minority villages. You will also have the opportunity to stay in a traditional Karen village, nestled in the mountains, and visit our school project which is based in this village.
We conduct countless Chiang Mai adventure tours every year and many of our guides have more than 10 years experience giving these tours.
At your hotel, from airport, train or bus stations in Chiang Mai
Your Doi Inthanon tour starts at 8 AM in Chiang Mai. After pick-up we drive for half an hour to a local market to stock up. Another 1.5 hour drive and we enter Doi Inthanon national park. Our first stop is Mae Yha waterfall, one of most scenic cascading waterfalls in northern Thailand. Here we take a break after the drive from Chiang Mai and freshen up. From the waterfall we drive to Mae Klang Luang village where we eat our lunch and start a two-hour trek in the heart of Doi Inthanon national park. This trekking route offers wonderful views of scenic coffee plantations and rice paddies carved into the mountainside. We pass a waterfall on the way where we can make a short stop. At the end of this trekking path our driver waits to take us higher up the mountain to King and Queen Pagodas a short way below the peak of Doi Inthanon. To finish the first day, we trek at the peak of Doi Inthanon for approximately 1.5 hours and we can also wait to see the sunset right at the top. Then it's time to drive down the mountain to Pong Noi Karen tribe village where we have dinner and spend the night.
We have breakfast in the village and first explore the surrounding rice fields and learn about the life in hill tribe communities. You could pop into the school or learn about the local farming methods. Then we start trekking in the national park. Today, we explore the national park at your own pace; you can do as much walking as you wish. It is best to tell your wishes to your guide a day before, so he can plan for your trek. After lunch, we take you back to Chiang Mai.
