There are many situations that can go wrong on any outdoor adventure. This course will train you in how to react, what you need to know, and what to do so that if anything unexpected and life threatening should occur you will not succumb to the most dangerous of all threats in the wild,... Fear and Panic, the greatest killers of all. Bring personal toiletries, a towel, sleeping Bag, Notepad and Pen, and pillow.. This is a fully equipped cabin. Everything else will be provided. Rates: full weekend, both classes, food and lodging is $160.00 p.p. A bit about your trainer...."Greystone has been trained as an instructor of wilderness survival. Qualified in primitive skills and tool making, as well as a host of rescue techniques which include rope rescue, surface ice, scuba rescue, tracking and wilderness first aid. With many extreme adventures behind him and experience in the field, the topics will range across many subjects and frontiers, all on the focus of self rescue."

This is an annual class that is offered in N.Y. every spring. We welcome of levels of fitness and experience to come and learn these valuable skills.

  • Day 1
    Day One: will be focused on the basic survival skills you will need if you are ever stranded, lost, or separated from your backpacking gear. We will focus on the FOUR Major components Shelter, Fire, Water, and Food in various different environments from tundra and desert to forest and jungle. You will learn, hands on, how to use the natural elements of the wild to create your own survival gear. Using plant, rock, mud, ash, even bone and antler to make any emergency situation not only possible, but comfortable. We will be building primitive shelters and making cordage. Choosing and building a fire pit and making fire. Learning to tap and filter water, forage, a couple traps and basic hunting all from the natural tools of the landscape. All students have the option of spending the night in our primitive camp or sleeping in the comfort of our cabin.
  • Day 2
    Day Two: Will be a day of training in the survival of extreme emergency scenarios. You or your loved one falls through the thin ice. You are suddenly caught in a storm or a catastrophe. Your climbing line gets cut or your gear is lost or compromised while you're still not on safe ground. You suffer major wounds or burns while far from rescue or help. You are lost without bearing. There are many situations that can go wrong on any outdoor adventure.
