Hike to a pristine alpine lake, meadow, or basin.
Option to explore or scramble surrounding peaks depending on the area, conditions and party ability.
I do have my favorites, but there are many to choose from.
Here is a short list of possible destinations, but there are always other options.
Mount Pilchuck - Trip varies from moderate hike to occasionally steep snow scramble depending on time of year and conditions. Mountaintop finish to a fire lookout with views of surrounding peaks to the South and far out to the San Juan Islands up North.
Gothic Basin - This is a strenuous hike in summer with several waterfall crossings on the approach. Long traverse above the valley with sweeping views of the surrounding area. Finishes in a spectacular alpine lake basin surrounded by peaks.
Goat Lake - Moderate 5 mile hike along a stream passing through old growth forest. Passes by a somewhat hidden waterfall before arriving at a large glorious alpine lake below dominating face of Cadet peak. Swimming optional
