Departure from Battambang, 80km
  • Day 1
After breakfast, a minibus will arrive to take you all to the start of the ride at Butterfly Tours’ office. Here, you’ll learn a little bit about the Cardamom Mountains, as well as the terrain, and an overview of the first day of cycling. 30kms in, we’ll stop for snacks and drinks. You may have the chance to stop along the way for your guide to exhibit many points of interest; however this varies from tour to tour, as we must cover a distance of 70kms in the first day. When we stop at a small village, you will have the chance to relax, take dinner, chat to the locals and go swimming in Crocodile lake (don’t worry!)
  • Day 2
On the second day, we’ll take breakfast early in the village’s market, and head on towards the Cardamom Mountains. Along the scenic and tranquil routes, you will have ample time to photograph the stunning terrain and wildlife, and learn more about the area from your guide. We will stop somewhere along the route to take lunch, and after a few more hours of riding we will arrive at a beautiful river, where we will load our bikes onto a boat and take some time to go swimming. Once everyone feels rejuvenated, we will set off again, stopping on our way in the Cardamom area and trekking for a short distance. As evening falls, there will be another opportunity to swim in the shadow of an awe-inspiring waterfall, a camp fire, and dinner.
  • Day 3
After staying a night in Koh Kong, we will take breakfast, then cycle towards Elephant field, taking our lunch in the shade of the trees and hopefully seeing some wildlife. You will also be able to sample an incredible view at this point; you will be in a perfect position to see the breath-taking vastness of the forest. Later, when we reach Koh Kong, there will be swimming at a beach, and an opportunity to try local seafood.
  • Day 4
On day four we will arrive in Kampot in the late afternoon, checking into a hotel and taking some time to explore the old French colonial city, and get a fascinating dose of history from your guide. This city is built around the meanders of a huge river, which in the evening reflects a beautiful sunset, so vibrant that the whole sky appears to be red. As the evening draws in, your tour guide will take you to a well-reputed restaurant for a special farewell dinner, which we will spend reflecting on all we’ve seen and done throughout the trip. If you wish to burn the night away, your guide will be happy to recommend bars and clubs in the local area.
