Take a hike through Desolation wilderness to some of the most beautiful lakes that the area has to offer. Trips can be one to three nights in length and can cover up to 10 miles a day. Destinations such as Lake Aloha, Crag Lake, Suzy Lake and the peaceful Lake Rubicon.

Permits are required year-round for overnight camping and day use. Visitors should also be aware that a quota system is in place during the summer months for the 45 destination zones within the wilderness. This system helps to disperse visitors throughout the area, providing an opportunity for solitude and reflection. Seventy percent of the available permits are available for advanced reservation. The remaining quota is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
