Pancake Rocks is a moderate hike located on the "back" side of Pikes Peak. This hike is 7.5 miles with 1900 feet elevation gain. I hike at a slow-to-moderate pace for this hike and take frequent breaks. There are steep climbs and switchbacks for the first few miles. Once we reach the ridge, the trail tapers off but there is another dip down & up again before reaching the rock outcropping. This hike is fantastic in the fall! We will take a break at the top to take in the views, photos and a snack if you like. We will return the way we came up. The side trip to Horsethief Falls is optional on the return. It's less than a mile to the falls and back.
Any day - prefer 24-48 hours notice. Early start is best - 7:30-8:00 am.
I have lived in Colorado since Spring 2010 and hiked all over the Front Range and beyond. I am the organizer of a local group so I arrange hikes, bike rides, rafting and other outdoor activities on a regular basis.
