The Elwha River Restoration Project was a multi-faceted project including government, tribal, and academic interests. Removal of the two dams became the tallest dam removed in the world and the highest amount of sediment released from a dam removal. Impacts of the dam removal include re-introducing salmon spawning habitat, re-establishing local riparian ecosystems, and insuring healthy regrowth of vegetation. I have worked first hand as a field restoration ecologist and would like to share the wonders of the Elwha Restoration and educate about the different aspects involved. This tour includes a touring hike of the restoration areas of the reservoirs and dam deconstruction sites.
