  • Day 1
    Londorossi Gate –Mti Mkubwa Camp •Elevation (ft): 7,742fts to 9,498fts •Distance: 6 km •Hiking Time: 3-4 hours •Habitat: Montane Forest Meet up by your mountain guide at your place of stay in Arusha or Moshi, after drive to Londorossi Park (2hrs driving from Arusha and 1hrs driving from Moshi) in a 4WD vehicle for registration and permit. Thereafter, drive to the starting point of the trek. Start your trek till Mti Mkubwa (Big tree) for overnight. Meal Plan FB (Dinner, Breakfast and Lunch)

    Mti Mkubwa Camp- Shira Camp I •Elevation (ft): 9.498ft to 11,500ft •Distance: 8 km •Hiking Time: 5-6 hours •Habitat: Moorland After breakfast, you climb to Shira Camp I located by a stream on the Shira Plateau for overnight. However, this campsite could be omitted to Shira Camp II. At Shira Camp I you will get some magnificent view of Kibo Peak and Western Breach. Meal Plan FB (Dinner, Breakfast and Lunch)

    Shira Camp I- Shira Camp II •Elevation (ft): 11,500ft to 12,500ft •Distance: 10 km •Hiking Time: 3-4 hours •Habitat: Semi Desert After breakfast, continue hike East across the Shira Plateau past the Shira Cathedral towards Shira Camp II. We only gain 1000 feet in elevation – this allows us to acclimatize slowly to the altitude. The views of the plateau are nothing less than spectacular. Nice dinner and overnight at the Shira Camp II.     Shira Camp II- Barrano Camp •Elevation (ft): 12,500ft to 13,044ft •Distance: 4km •Hiking Time: 2-3 hours •Habitat: Semi Desert From the Shira Camp II you continue to the East passing the junction of the route up to the peak of Kibo. You continue on until your direction turns to the South East and you head towards the Lava Tower, called the 'Shark's Tooth'. Shortly after the tower you come to a second junction, which leads you up to the Arrow Glacier. You then continue on and down to the Barranco Hut to enjoy a well-deserved rest, evening meal and overnight camp. Meal Plan FB(Dinner, Breakfast and Lunch)

    Barranco Camp- Barafu Camp •Elevation (ft): 13,044ft to 15,331ft •Distance: 9 km •Hiking Time: 8-9 hours •Habitat: Alpine Desert After breakfast, you leave the Barranco Hut to ascend a steep ridge, which passes the Barranco Wall in the Karanga Valley. Here you meet up with the top part of the Mweka trail and continue up to the Barafu Camp. This is your high camp from where the peaks of Mawenzi and Kibo can be seen. The rest and evening meal will be very welcome after a walking day of around 8 hours. Meal Plan FB (Dinner, Breakfast and Lunch)
  • Day 6
    Barafu Camp- Summit - Descend to Mweka Camp •Elevation (ft): 15,300ft to 19,345ft (and down to 10,000ft) •Distance: 5km ascent/12km descent •Hiking Time: 7-8 hours ascent/ 4-6hrs descent •Habitat: Arctic SUMMIT DAY: Very early in the morning you make your way slowly up to Stella Point at 5,745m before making the final traverse to the Uhuru Peak, highest point in the continent of Africa, at 5,985m (19,345ft). This ascent will take around 7-8hours. Views of the plains and Mount Meru in the early morning sunlight are possible before any cloud drifts up from the steamy jungle below. From the summit you now make your descent continuing straight down to the Mweka Hut camp at 3,100m. This descent should take around 4-6hours hours and you can take pleasure in a well-deserved rest and final evening meal on the mountain. Meal Plan FB (Dinner, Breakfast and Lunch)
  • Day 7
    Mweka Camp- Mweka Gate •Elevation (ft): 10,000ft to 5,400ft •Distance: 10 km •Hiking Time: 3-4 hours •Habitat: Rain Forest After breakfast, we continue the descent down to the Mweka Park Gate to receive your summit certificates. At lower elevations, it can be wet and muddy. Gaiters and trekking poles will help. Shorts and t-shirts will probably be plenty to wear (keep rain gear and warmer clothing handy). From the gate, you continue another hour to Mweka Village. A vehicle will meet you at Mweka village to drive you back to hotel in Moshi for packing and after drive to Arusha(80km, 1hr 30mins driving) for Dinner and Overnight at Mount Meru Hotel.
