If you’ve tried the sport of ice climbing in the past, and interested in learning more than just the basics, then this tour is for you. Our vertical ice climbing tour is perfect if you just took an intro to ice climbing class or if you have years of experience and just need a tune up on your technique. Our guide will get you on the steeps, pinpoint your strengths and weaknesses, and offer specific, personalized techniques to help you avoid the dreaded vertical ice pump. This course is based out of beautiful Rocky Mountain National Park and or Boulder County.
December - March, 7 days a week, 8:00 am- 4:00 pm Full day is $225 per person, half day is $195 per person
The ice climbing tour guide has experience climbing all over Colorado, and was educated and trained through the Colorado Mountain Club's Mountaineering School. He has been ice climbing for over 10 years. All climbs will be "Top Rope" climbs due to a higher safety margin; unless client wants to "Lead" climb him/herself.
  • Rope, ice screws and anchor systems. Tea or hot chocolate.

    Colorado ice climbing is great and the trained tour guide will make sure you experience everything there is to offer. The ice climbing tour is intended for those who would like to gain experience the basics of ice climbing in local spots- only 45 minutes from Boulder. Topics covered include: ice climbing technique (vertical and moderate slope); ice protection and methods of placement screws. We will be “Top Rope” climbing and “Lead” climbing for those who have experience.
