  • Day 1
    Day 1: WEDNESDAY Iquitos - Nauta - Delfin II 5:00 pm. Arrive in Iquitos The crew will be expecting your arrival at the airport, then transfer all together by comfortable private vehicle over paved road to the city of Nauta, 95 kilometers away. Nauta is literally the "end of the road" where you will embark the Delfin. Along the way, you will see vibrant "terra firma" (non-flooded forest) and various aspects of daily jungle life. 7:00 pm. Embarkation & Happy Hour Arrive to Nauta port. Nauta is a small riverside town on the banks of the Marañon River and was the first city founded in the department of Loreto. Once we reach Nauta, you will enjoy a VIP greeting at our private port along the shores of the Marañon River where the vessel awaits you. Aboard Delfin, you will be served by the qualified staff who will introduce you to your exquisite and cozy suite, specially equipped with all the amenities for the experienced traveler as yourself. Orthopedic beds, pure cotton sheets, pillows of 100% pure natural latex, cotton bathrobes, air conditioning, and private bathroom with Spanish style hot water showers. 8:00 pm. Orientation While the Delfin begins its initial navigation, you will enjoy the most fantastic panoramic views from the elegantly outfitted outdoor observation area located on our second deck. Our bartender will be waiting to serve you with an exotic cocktail made with regional fruits and pisco, the beloved national brandy liquor of Peru. Then, your naturalist guide will give you an overview of your journey's schedule, activities, route, highlights, wildlife and vegetation to keep your eye out for, geographical and historical background, and other useful details. 8:30 pm. Dinner Your first sumptuous Amazonian dinner awaits! After dinner we invite you to the second deck were you can enjoy stargazing while we cruise in to the depths of the Amazon Rainforest.

    Day 2: THURSDAY Fundo Casual - Dorado River (Low Water Season, June-Oct) Clavero Lagoon - Belluda Caño Creek (High Water Season, Nov-May) 7:00 am. Breakfast - Buffet 8:00 am. (Low Water Season, June-Oct) Fundo Casual On your first morning with us, we recommend getting up early to appreciate one of the most important zones of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. Never does nature seem more bountiful than in the tropics, and early rising is always rewarding since wildlife is most abundant and active with the rising of the sun. The walk at Fundo Casual jungle trail will take you deep into the rainforest on terra firme (non-flooded forest) where your guide will point out the dynamic creatures and vegetation of the Amazon. Be sure to keep an attentive eye open for spotting surprises! 8:00 am. (High Water Season, Nov-May) Clavero Lagoon On your first morning with us, we recommend getting up early to appreciate one of the most important zones of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. Never does nature seem more bountiful than in the tropics, and early rising is always rewarding since wildlife is most abundant and active with the rising of the sun. The exploration at Clavero Lake on board of our aluminum skiff, you will have the chance to get deep into the rainforest and its fantastic diversity of flora and fauna. 10:30 am. Return to Delfin II & Lunch Before your afternoon activities there is relaxation time for you to spend as desired, in the comfort of your spacious suites, or the luxurious social areas of the vessel. 3:30 pm. (Low Water Season, June-Oct) Dorado River This afternoon, wildlife will greet you and the biodiversity you will experience will be outstanding. You will have the chance to enjoy some of the myriad bird species, butterflies and diverse insects, and noisy monkey troops. Also, try your hand at piranha fishing, an experience you surely won't forget! And when the night shift strikes, you’ll encounter a whole new world of adventure. 3:30 pm. (High Water Season, Nov-May) Belluda Caño Creek In the afternoon, you will head for this spectacular tributary spot within the Pacaya-Samiria Reserve in our skiffs where you will also experience an unforgettable encounter with gray and pink river dolphins. As well, the day's birds will be out and active, flying gracefully across the Amazon skies. 6:30 pm. Back aboard the Delfin II Continue sailing towards your next destination 8:00 pm. Dinner The service continues. Desserts are also a wonderful treat on the menu. 9:30 pm. Relaxation on board The staff and guides are there to answer any question about what you have already seen and visited. While feeling the warm breeze of the Amazon night, the third deck is a great place to relax to the musical sounds of the jungle. Do not forget to look up at the sky, where the beauty continues, with millions of sparkling stars set against the deep black night or perhaps a full moon that lights up the entire river.

    Day 3: FRIDAY Pacaya River - Zapote River (Low Water Season, June-Oct) Magdalena - Dorado River (High Water Season, Nov-May) 7:00 am. Breakfast - Buffet 8:00 am. (Low Water Season, June-Oct) Pacaya River After breakfast we will have reached our main goal, the Pacaya River at the very heart of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, Peru’s largest protected area with a mean annual rainfall of nearly 3,000 millimeters, by far the largest protected wetland reserve in the world. Filled with lakes, palm swamps, and streams, the reserve becomes a flooded forest in the rainy season and is sure to be one of the most beautiful places you’ll ever visit. You will also have the chance to swim in one of the pristine Amazon lagoons in this wonderful region! 8:00 am. (High Water Season, Nov-May) Magdalena One of the best ways to wake up in the Amazon is to go on an active excursion. This morning, go kayaking in the area known as Magdalena. There is also a nearby village so you are sure to see fisherman waking up to count their catches and locals getting from one place to another in their wooden canoes or boats. 10:30 am. Return to Delfin II & Lunch Before your afternoon activities there is relaxation time for you to spend as desired, in the comfort of your spacious suites, or the luxurious social areas of the vessel. 3:30 pm. Zapote River The afternoon is a perfect time for kayaking along the calm and inspiring rainforest waters. Our guides will take you upstream; this will be a good chance to spot prehistoric looking iguanas that laze in the sun while we travel along the shoreline searching for whatever the jungle has to offer us. Squirrel monkeys are also very active at this time of the day, when they move in large groups at mid to upper levels of primary and secondary lowland forest. As you float and paddle down the river, see if you can spot some elusive creatures on your own! 3:30 pm. (High Water Season, Nov-May) Dorado River This afternoon, wildlife will greet you and the biodiversity you will experience will be outstanding. You will have the chance to enjoy some of the myriad bird species, colorful butterflies and other diverse insects, and noisy monkey troops, and when the night shift strikes, you’ll encounter a whole new world of adventure. 6:30 pm. Back aboard the Delfin II Afford yourself some well deserved relaxation time before dinner. 8:00 pm. Dinner You guessed it - more culinary delights are yours to savor with new found friends.

    Day 4: SATURDAY Supay Lake - Beach (Low Water Season, June-Oct) Pacaya River - Zapote River (High Water Season, Nov-May) 7:00 am. Breakfast - Buffet 8:00 am. (Low Water Season, June-Oct) Supay Lake After breakfast, explore Supay Lake via skiff. Wildlife will greet you and the biodiversity you will experience will be outstanding. You will have the chance to enjoy some of the myriad bird species, colorful, butterflies and other diverse insects, and noisy monkey troops. Enjoy another kayaking excursion at your leisure! 8:00 am. Have a swim if you wish as well! This rejuvenating experience will surely relax you completely. 3:30 pm. (High Water Season, Nov-May) Zapote River The afternoon is a perfect time for kayaking along the calm and inspiring rainforest waters. Farewell Dinner Leaving behind the wildlife, you continue enjoying our service, as a world class traveler deserves. Tonight our chef treats you to a grilled dinner, including fresh salads, grilled vegetables, rich sauces, and wonderful combinations of different types of meat. The talented staff will delight you with some live music before bed.

    Day 5: SUNDAY Puerto Miguel Village; Nauta - Iquitos 7:00 am. Breakfast – Buffet 8:00 am. Puerto Miguel Village & Yarapa River This morning, visit the village of Puerto Miguel which is a chance to see life in a local Amazon community. We can visit the school where the pupils and their teacher are happy to welcome you, as well as a villager's house. And there is a chance to admire - and buy - the traditional craftsmanship. Then explore the narrow Yarapa River by lancha to enjoy the abundant wildlife on the river and in the surrounding rainforest. Species ranging from Squirrel and Capuchin Monkeys, Heron and Egret, and Green Iguanas are regularly seen here. Reach Uvos Lagoon, so called for the fruit that grows wild on the shores. If lucky, we may see Pink River Dolphin, which often feed in these waters. 10:30 am. Return to Delfin II & Lunch Once back on board, there is time for final enjoyment of the luxurious features of your cabin, or the public areas of the boat, before packing up in readiness for disembarkation. The last delicious meal of your journey will be lunch on board. 1:00 pm. Nauta Disembark at a jetty in Nauta, where a bus is waiting to take you back to Iquitos. 2:40 pm. Manatee Rescue Center On the way to Iquitos Airport, visit the Rescue & Rehabilitation Center of River Mammals, where we can learn more about this peaceful, endangered species, the work being done to protect them ... and possibly help in the feeding of rescued baby manatees! 4:00 pm. Iquitos Airport The ground staff assist with check in, before bidding a fond farewell.
