Join me on an endless variety of trails in the beautiful Columbia Gorge, while learning about wild food and medicine that you can make at home. I will show you how and what to gather, and how to process your goodies to yield delicious foods and highly beneficial medicines without chemicals or commercial additives. I am a Ranger, EMT and firefighter who lives and works in the Gorge and will tailor the location, length, difficulty and content of the hike to best meet the seasons and the wishes of the group.
Generally Sunday-Tuesday, call for dates and times
I am a federal Ranger who lives and works in the Columbia Gorge, a Certified Interpretive Guide, an EMT (registered nationally and in Washington State), a CPR and First Aid Instructor and a member of Wind River Search and Rescue who gathers a large portion of my personal food and medicine from the wild places of the Gorge
  • As an experienced Ranger, hike leader and certified Interpretive Guide who is also an active EMT, I will provide guidance and insights throughout the hike, permits to gather plants as appropriate, and knowledge and skills to keep attendees safe in the woods. I will also have a selection of field guides and a waterproof camera for use during the hike, and a small stove to prepare and sample foods found along the way.
  • Food and water sufficient for the duration and difficulty of the hike
  • Footwear and clothing suitable to remain comfortable while on rocky trails and/or in underbrush
  • Medicines and/or personal first aid kit as needed
  • Layers and rain gear to accommodate a variety of weather changes
Contact me for more info, and to settle on date, times, locations, group discounts, etc. Pets may be allowed depending on the area chosen for the hike.
