Sandy, a Boulder, CO native, has always had a passion for the outdoors and sharing that experience with others. She now has over twenty-six years of experience exploring the back country, getting particularly familiar with the nearby Rocky Mountains. After completing her B.A. in Environmental Studies at the University of Colorado, she went on to study primitive skills in Oregon at Tracker's Earth. She has guided in various capacities, including wilderness therapy, leading extended backpacking and climbing trips for The Women's Wilderness Institute, and now leading various primitive skills courses for The Cottonwood Institute and Feet on the Earth. She has a Wilderness First Responder medical training to keep people safe in the backcountry, and also plays a variety of instruments including accordion, piano, guitar, and ukulele, to keep people having fun in the backcountry. In addition, she is a certified yoga teacher, offering her practice to fellow explorers who want to share in that. She spends her free time traveling internationally, making music, dancing, hula hooping, doing yoga, and laughing.
